Pre-Season Outlook: Philadelphia Phillies

Batting Order: The Phillies rely heavily on On-Base 8 hitters, which tends to be a very high risk, high reward design. However, Philadelphia appears in position to score plenty of runs, as their line-up is flush with speed and extra base hitting potential. Especially Scott Rolen and Shane Victorino, who have amazing charts. The only real weak link is Desi Relaford, a necessary punt. Bobby Abreau is a great lead-off man and should earn himself an all star game berth.

Rotation: Easily the best rotation in the game. Roy Halladay is the best pitcher in the National League and he's supported by three tier 2 pitchers. Cole Hamels is an incredible #4 pitcher and, due to favorable match-ups, I believe he's going to emerge as a Cy Young candidate. It'll be shocking if the Phillies staff doesn't lead the NL in ERA, IP, and strikeouts, it'll be a major surprise.

Bullpen: Perhaps the most meaningless bullpen in baseball. With four pitchers who have the potential to go the distance every start, this unit will be seldom used. If they must be used, they at least have high controls.

Overall: Philadelphia managed to put together the frontrunner not only of the NL East, but both the National League and the entire majors. The only potential pitfall is the offense not consistently producing, but that's highly unlikely. Behind an incredible rotation and lineup filled with power and speed, look for the Phillies lead the NL in wins.
